Why a full tank costs so much more in some countries
The price of crude oil and refining is similar across Europe. The big differences come from fuel duty and VAT, which each country sets for itself, and from local competition. On a 50-litre tank, the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive EU country is often €20 or more.
